Profile
Welcome to the profile of Michelle Oravitz, an artist with BoundlessGallery.com.
My name is Michelle Oravitz and I am a self representing artist who was raised in NY. I received a bachelor of Architecture degree in Philadelphia. I worked as an architect and after a couple of years felt like it wasn't my calling. I have always been urged by many friends to become a professional artist but knew that it would all come in its time. After moving to Florida, I got certified as an Ayurvedic practitioner and a yoga teacher. I have always been attracted to anything creative and the healing arts. I had a teacher who said that creativity and healing are very linked since they both produce energy through the hands. This is the core essence of what I believe my art to be, since I feel like I'm more of a channel than a creator. I never know what will come out the day I paint and always have the sentence in my head when looking at my painting in it's completion 'It's what came out'.
My goals are to paint the world happy and bring love and inspiration to everyone I encounter. I'm one of those people who likes to do a deed a day. I love what Oprah stands for and believe in looking at all the amazing things that are happening in the world rather than obsessing with the bad news that sells! I also believe that art, like music, has an ability to heal and create a vibration with its' presence.
So far, I feel like I'm doing exactly what I need to be - it feels natural and has been going really well. My experience with selling my art online has proved to be amazing. I have been approached to have my art on CD covers, calenders and magazines. The most exciting news is that one of my paintings is going to be featured in a major motion picture called 'The Unborn' which will be released in 2009. Best of all, I have been blessed with the coolest and most appreciative customers!
My art has been featured on the album cover of Nacho Laguna, a recognized musician from Spain (http://www.nacholaguna.8k.com/) and in MetaCreative Magazine - August 2007 issue (http://www.mystikka.com/mcmjulyaug2007.pdf). Please be sure to check out my painting in the movie "The Unborn" coming in 2009!
If there are any sold paintings that are of interest, I offer high quality giclee prints on canvas (up to 11x14) and fine art paper (up to 13x19). Please let me know if you are interested.
